Right Angles is a small, tight-knit team of PR and CEO reputation specialists. Based in Soho, we have an incredibly niche offering, and we are looking for a hard-working, highly motivated self-starter who can take responsibility, deliver results and work at an intense level, often for long hours.

 

The opportunity

This is the perfect opportunity for a determined self starter who wants training and experience in PR and reputation management. A small practice, like ours, gives you a huge opportunity to get stuck in, get the training and exposure you need and get support from those who have been doing this a long time. You won’t be making the coffee (ok sometimes…we all do!) you will be learning invaluable skills and working as part of a team with a flat structure. Experience preferred but not necessary! We will give you all the tools you need for a successful start in your role as long as you are willing and driven to learn!

We don’t do ‘regular’ PR in the sense of corporate or consumer PR. We look after the CEO only, doing their personal PR – positioning them as a thought leader on the global stage, getting them keynote speaking opportunities around the world, making introductions to the most senior journalists/editors, arranging feature interviews, creating and running their social media profile and blog, writing articles, speeches and presentations etc. We also work with Family Offices, managing and controlling the personal and business exposure for individuals.

A significant portion of our activities is not strict PR, and may involve turning our skills to helping secure investment, company acquisitions/disposals, extending a client’s professional network, or building strategic sales partnerships for their companies in the UK and internationally. All executed behind the scenes.

We look after them as a ‘person’ too – coaching, advising, and acting as a ‘sounding board’ – generally ‘being there’ for whatever they need. Our services work alongside, and build upon, their existing corporate media team. We are not publicists and we are not their press office.

This service is something really new, very niche, and wholly bespoke. We never get a brief. We tell our clients what they need to do, and then we make it happen. They rely on us 24/7.

Due to the nature of our work, we operate at an incredibly fast pace and thrive when working to very tight deadlines. We often work unsociable hours including weekends and are happy to share responsibility for all tasks.

 

Our ideal candidate

We are looking for an Accounts Executive. The right person for us is interested in taking their first step into a career in PR, reputation management and social media management.

You should have an interest in business, current affairs, politics, general economics and social media. You will join a team of three other researchers to support our client leads in delivering to a high standard.

You must be a confident self-starter who can work to tight deadlines with little supervision, and have the ability to see, and act, beyond the brief.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is highly organised, able to work under pressure and have excellent time-management skills
  • Is incredibly hard working – driven, energetic and highly ambitious
  • Has some experience desirable but by no means necessary
  • Is assured and have the ability to engage others – you need to be comfortable working with very senior people and high-net-worth individuals
  • Is prepared to work, or be available to respond, at unsociable hours including weekends in order to manage social media presence and output for clients – this is not a 9-5 job
  • Is a team player – we need people who can share responsibility for all tasks and, unasked, offer to help support others in the team
  • Is an independent thinker with fresh ideas and the ability to implement them with little guidance
  • Has excellent communicators, and foreign language skills are desirable
  • Is personable, approachable and a good sense of humour!

 

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Undertake in-depth research across all client accounts to: identify key decision-makers across a range of industries, opportunities to engage with key target audiences and identify potential news stories.
  • Undertake research to identify the contact details, including emails, for key sector influencers for clients, and maintain an up-to-date contacts database
  • Maintain and continuously update press lists of journalists for clients, covering the UK and international media
  • Learn how to draft tweets that reflect the tone and interests of individual clients and proactively search for fresh content and ideas for tweets
  • Monitor social media platforms for industry-specific insights and international breaking news, and monitor the impact of social media on clients’ reputations
  • Assist with high-profile events for clients, which could include securing the venue, setting the agenda, identifying and inviting guests
  • Liaise on a daily basis with clients and the media, often via telephone and email
  • Learn how to pitch clients’ articles and columns into prominent magazines and newspapers as well as key industry publications
  • Identify client speaking opportunities at national and international conferences
  • Learn how to develop long-term relationships with journalists, politicians and industry decision-makers
  • Monitor the media, including newspapers, magazines, journals, broadcasts, newswires and blogs, for opportunities for clients
  • Prepare client reports and attend client meetings – learn how to draft blog posts, press releases, speeches etc.
  • Undertake administrative and office-based tasks
  • Undertake research to identify new business prospects, and preparing briefings from available information that would be useful for first outreach and meetings with them
